Lincoln, Neb., December 1, 2004 -- Students enrolled in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Independent Study High School scored above the national average on the two main college admission tests, the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and the ACT.
Students scored above the national average on the SAT scores. Based on the 79 Nebraska students who reported taking the test, students scored an average of 569 on the verbal section of the test and 554 on the mathematics section of the test. National averages are 508 on the verbal section and 518 on the mathematics section.
Ten ACT score reports were received from Nebraska students. The average composite score of these students was 23.6 compared to the national average composite score of 20.9.
"The results of these standardized college admission tests prove that the education students receive at Nebraska's High School both adequately prepares students to enter college and makes them competitive with their peers," says Carol Ash, Director of the Independent Study High School. She continues, "It is a testament to the quality educational services provided by our instructional designers, teachers, our administration and support staff."
