School Improvement Specialist Certificate Program
Through a partnership with AdvancEd, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln offers an online certificate program aimed solely on teaching education professionals how to lead their school or district through the improvement process. Educators are trained in specific areas such as accreditation preparation, research techniques and developing a strong district team.
Becoming a School Improvement Specialist gives you, the teacher, a unique set of skills in becoming a school leader and grants you the specialist credential, making you a highly sought after professional.
Your school district will benefit from your training by:
- Being provided an accreditation leader to facilitate the school improvement process
- Preparing for district-level accreditation
- Establishing quality, consistent data collection and research techniques
- Preparing for quality teachers and administrators
- Attaining maximum improvement impact when multiple school leaders enroll
AdvancEd
AdvancEd is UNL’s partner institution for the School Improvement program. This association is the result of the merger between the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA-CASI), the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the National Study of School Evaluation (NSSE). AdvancEd is the world’s largest education community, representing over 23,000 public and private schools and serving nearly 15 million students.
Program Requirements
The School Improvement Specialist program is a nine credit-hour graduate program. All four courses for the certificate are delivered online, using the online course management system, Blackboard. A high-speed internet connection is required, but participants can complete courses from anywhere around the world.
Upon completion, students will receive a Certificate of Completion as a School Improvement Specialist, and will be able to use the School Improvement Specialist credential. Credits earned in the certificate program may be applied towards credit hours in a UNL masters or doctoral degree program, pending approval from the Office of Graduate Studies.
