NCA Program—Currently Enrolled Students

As you know, the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), and the National Study of School Evaluation (NSSE) have unified, to form the AdvancEd organization.

What does this mean for current students or graduates of our program?
Individuals currently enrolled in the NCA School Improvement Specialist program will not be adversely affected by the NCA unification with SACS and NSSE. The program will in fact be elevated, as we will be able to offer an additional course that focuses on system-wide improvement implementation. With this partnership, there will be a higher level of service, a stronger national voice, an increased global approach, and operational synergy.

Additionally:

    Graduates:
  • Will still be able to use the title School Improvement Specialist.
  • Will be honored at the annual NCA conference in Chicago in April.
  • Will be given the opportunity to join us for a new system-wide course, reflecting the new district protocol.
  • The school protocol that you have been taught will remain in place after the unification.

Current Students:

  • A new system-wide course will be added to the program to reflect district protocol.
  • There will be a few changes in the profile and action plans for schools. This is outlined in NSSE's Breakthrough School Improvement: An Action Guide for Greater and Faster Results, the official guide for the new unified accreditation. These changes will be reflected in your courses and this textbook will be studied.
  • Your instructors will still be highly qualified UNL Educational Administration faculty.
    The registration process will not change. The look and feel of the courses, your passwords and URLs, and the way you submit assignments—all remain the same.
