Getting Started

1. Complete Graduate Admissions paperwork

Students can be admitted to Graduate Studies at UNL in one of two categories: 1) degree-seeking or 2) non-degree. Distance education students may complete a non-degree admission to Graduate Studies at the time of first enrollment or while awaiting a decision by a department.

Apply online at www.unl.edu/gradstudies using a credit card for payment for the $45 fee. Be sure to include your e-mail address on the application form. If you prefer to apply by mail, submit a $45 check or money order made payable to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln along with the form printed from the Web site.

Admission to a particular degree program involves an evaluation by Graduate Studies and by the graduate committee within the academic unit to which the student applies. This process often takes several weeks to complete after you have submitted all admission documents for review. You will need to contact the graduate committee chair of the department you wish to enter to discuss the program and the requirements for admission. After you have been accepted to the departmental graduate program, your status changes from non-degree to degree seeking.
