UNL Faculty Discussion Strategy: Naive Question
Goal: To prepare the students for uninformed questions that they, as deaf educators, are likely to encounter.
Instructor Role: The instructor assigns readings to use as resources and posts three "naive" questions for students to choose from. The instructor also posts several prompts with each question to help get the discussion started.
Student Responsibilities: Before the end of the semester, students must answer two of the three naive questions.
Process:
1. Instructor assigns reading to accomplish prior to the question being posted.
2. Instructor starts a new forum with a "naive" question and some points that should help start the discussion.
3. The discussion is student-centered with occasional input by the professor if students seem to be missing the point.
Additional Information: The instructor encourages students to add to her list of naive questions from their own personal experience.
