Teaching Online: How To Plan and Organize Your Course

Planning the course

A Web site is automatically created for all courses offered at UNL. The instructor's name is sent to the Registration and Records Office by his or her home department, and the instructor's name is added to the site; instructor status allows you to create, edit, and delete content on the site.

Logging in entails going to my.unl.edu or blackboard.unl.edu (both work equally well) and entering the instructor's username and password. The site should open to "My UNL," but if it doesn't, click on the "My UNL" tab at the top left of the page. Look for "Courses in which you are teaching" in a box at the right of the page.

IMPORTANT TIP:
When you first log in to the Blackboard system, you use your university username (it should be a part of your email address, to the left of the @), and your password is your NU ID number, which is the 8 digit number located on the front of your N Card. Remember to change your password (using the Personal Information link) as soon as possible.

The My UNL section contains current, active courses; for a complete list of all of your courses, click on the Courses tab. To modify which courses show in the My UNL section, click on the pencil icon in the My Courses module; you can choose to show courses from other semesters and courses made unavailable to students.
