X-Courses
If you’re an advisor here at UNL, consider semester-based X courses for your students. They’re perfect for students who can’t get into an on-campus class that they need for graduation. And because these classes are semester-based, they run on the same schedule as traditional on-campus courses. They also count toward full-time enrollment for financial aid and insurance purposes. Open enrollment classes are great for UNL students, or students in other programs . . . including working students, nursing students or those serving in the armed forces.
Open enrollment courses are completely flexible. Students can start them at any time, and finish them in as little as five weeks. Completely self-paced, these courses allow students to work when time allows. It’s an outstanding way for busy students to still earn the college credits they need, while doing all the other things that life demands. See our available Open Enrollment Classes here
Summer Independent Study
This program was designed specifically for UNL resident students who plan to spend their summers off campus. Whether they’re at home, on vacation, or have an internship or job, UNL students can now earn credit over the summer with a special set of classes designed just for the summer term. Find out more!

If you're a high school counselor, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Independent Study High School can expand your school's curriculum. We offer over 100 accredited core, elective, and Advanced Placement courses for you to choose from.
